Our mission is to enlighten people on different perspectives on affirmative action based on the following books: Hunger of Memory written by Richard Rodriguez and The Affirmative Action Myth: Why Blacks don't need racial preference to succeed written by Jason L. What is Affirmative Action? 

Affirmative Action refers to a policy created March 6, 1961 aimed at increasing workplace and education opportunities for people who are underrepresented in various areas of our society

Why was Affirmative Action created?

Affirmative Action was created to address systemic discrimination to ensure equal opportunities for historically disadvantaged groups.

Common Misconceptions about Affirmative Action

With the presence of social media and our own biases, it's easy to become misinformed about certain subjects. Affirmative Action is one of those, as its intentions were not always understood correctly. Furthermore, although the intentions of Affirmative Action were created to make an equal playing field that did not always happen

People of color were the group that benefitted the most from Affirmative Action

The group that benefitted the most from affirmative action was white women. Even In comparison to women of color, white women were able to reach a level of gender parity in 22 years in comparison 48 years.

Affirmative Action is a form of Reverse Discrimination against White People

Affirmative action was created to level the playing field between people of color and white Americans. White people still continue to be the demographic group with the largest amount of college students

Affirmative Action is No Longer Necessary

Although the U.S.A is definitely in a better place compared to the 1800's there is still a significant amount of disparity amongst minority groups in professional and educational settings

Affirmative Action is mostly about race, not gender

Affirmative Action has always included sex/gender in commitment to diversify professional and educational settings.
